Counting the cost
3 oktober 2011 - Shell heeft de afgelopen tien jaar bijgedragen aan het schenden van mensenrechten in Nigeria door gewapende milities in dienst te hebben, blijkt uit dit rapport van een internationale coalitie van non-gouvernementele organisaties, waaronder Milieudefensie. Het rapport 'Counting the costs' onthult hoe de stelselmatige financiering van gewapende groepen door Shell in de periode van 2000 tot 2010 heeft bijgedragen aan ernstige conflicten. Ook hebben door Shell ingehuurde overheidstroepen zich schuldig gemaakt aan het schenden van mensenrechten van de lokale bevolking, door moord en martelingen.
